521 MILLINGTON GALLERY
521 Millington Gallery
This gallery was established in Winfield, Kansas in an effort to engage the community in thinking about and participating in artistic production. Located in an old industrial building along the Main Street of the small town, the gallery was designed using recycled materials, including large glass windows installed to create a welcoming public presence. Each of the different exhibitions invited or commissioned people in the community to contribute or create works of art. Exhibitions included a photography show entitled “Winfield: As We See It,” an installation of poetry and performance, hand-carved Ashika drums with two live performances, and paintings of local buildings.
